The Corporate Social Responsibility activities of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, in alleviating the plight of others and advancing society has gained new prominence as the security outfit owned by High Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, on Monday, promised to support inmates’ welfare and education in Okere-Warri Prison in Delta State.
The Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Engineer Kestin Pondi, made the pledge when he received on a courtesy visit members of the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Okere-Warri Prison, led by Deputy Controller of Correctional Centre, DCC Okemeomia Richard at the Tantita Security head office in Warri to appreciate the organisation’s support for a recent social event for prisoners, tagged: “Dry Bones Shall Arise”.
Ijaw Heritage Television News learnt that the comedy programme which was organised to promote social interaction, reduce tension, foster a sense of community and build cohesion between prison officials and inmates, was organised by a Warri-based Comedian, MC Prophet at the Okere-Warri Prison.
While applauding Tantita for their support to the correctional service, the team put forward a request for Tantita to improve prison education by building classrooms for inmates to pursue their educational careers while in incarceration.
“Education is a necessity for prison inmates because it helps them reintegrate into society after release, and currently, there are so many inmates who are super talented and could gain so much from such educational programmes,” DCC Okemeomia said.
In his response, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Engineer Kestin Pondi, who was visibly excited over the visit, promised to partner with the Nigerian Correctional Centres to empower willing inmates in the area of education, skills acquisition and job provision to enable them become useful to themselves and the society.
Speaking further, the Tantita helmsman obliged the request earlier made and assured the prison officials that Tantita will build a six classroom block facility that will be powered by alternative power supply-inverter and solar system to enable the project be useful to the inmates.
