Dennis Brutu Otuaro Leads Historic Thanksgiving at Egbesu Temple, Honors Tinubu’s Dedication to Niger Delta
High Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, has led a significant thanksgiving ceremony to express gratitude to God and the Deities of Ijaw land. This is even as he siezed the occasion to extol President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to the Niger Delta, as prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region centres the religious event.
The thanksgiving which took place at the sacred Gbaraun Egbesu Temple in Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, a place central to the Ijaw spiritual heritage, emphasized the importance of the ancient Egbesu faith which has been a foundation of resilience and guidance for the Ijaw people through history.
His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, presided over the significant event and offered fervent prayers for Dr. Otuaro’s service, while applauding his dedication to the Niger Delta’s progress and the broader vision of President Tinubu’s administration.
Traditional rulers from across the Niger Delta region graced the event, underscoring the unity and strength of the Ijaw spiritual heritage.
Among the distinguished guests were the Pere of Arogbo-Ibe Kingdom and Pere of Tubutoru Kingdom (Ondo State), Pere of Olodiama Kingdom (Edo State), Pere of Gbaraun Kingdom, Egbesuwei X (Bayelsa), Pere of Iduwini Kingdom (Bayelsa), Pere of Oporomo Kingdom (Delta/Bayelsa), Pere of Furupagha Kingdom (Edo), and Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom (Delta State).
The High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, a chief priest of Egbesu and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, was very important and had a significant impact on the event’s success, as he was visibly seen everywhere supervising the rituals and leading a procession from the Ibolomoboere Ziba-Opuoru Temple to the Gbaraun Egbesu Temple.
Chief Otuaro’s devotion to the Woyingi faith, which venerates the Creatress, embodied his commitment to fostering unity, stability, and economic growth in the Niger Delta. This thanksgiving was a reaffirmation of the ancient faith’s principles, celebrating divine blessings and Otuaro’s efforts toward national and regional development in line with President Tinubu’s goals.
The event attracted key figures from the community, including High Chief Barr. Macdonald Igbadiwei, Technical Adviser Edgar Daniel Biu, as well as women, youth, and community leaders who gathered to celebrate the historic occasion.
The ceremony further reinforced a collective mission to support the administration’s initiatives, consolidate peace, and advance the socio-economic objectives for the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
