Bayelsa Govt Assures IPF Of Support Ahead Of Media Conference

Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Bayelsa State, recently met with the Ijaw Publishers’ Forum (IPF) as part of the organisation’s ongoing engagement with stakeholders to discuss strategies for the forthcoming first Ijaw media conference. The purpose of this important meeting is to ensure the success of the December 11 conference at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bayelsa State.

The conference, which had as its theme “Advancing the Quest for Economic/Political Freedom in a Siege Nation,” is expected to be a ground-breaking occasion that would empower media professionals and promote economic discourse.

Traditional Rulers, business executives and government representatives were among the important stakeholders with whom the IPF had been actively interacting in order to gather support and knowledge.

Speaking during the meeting, Comrade Ozobo Austin, the president of the IPF and head of the delegation, intimated the Governor Diri spokesman of the essence of the program, the thematic topics, as well as other plans.

The Governor’s press secretary in his response, applauded IPF’s in telling the Ijaw and Niger Delta stories. He alluded that it’s about time Ijaw people have a dedicated media bloc to articulate the issues and challenges of the area. Daniel however gave the state government’s assurance to support the event, while stating that the developmental strides of the Governor Diri-led prosperity government is speaking for the administration.

Due to Bayelsa State’s prominence in political and economic discourse in the Niger Delta, the conference is very crucial in unearthing the socio-economic and industrial potentials of the Ijaw area in line with the aspirations of the Bayelsa State government.
