The Niger Delta/Nigeria visual art landscape has received a huge boost following the founding of the Azaiki Art Gallery.
The new and trendy art gallery/hub, located at No. 1 Steve Azaiki Street, Imgbi Road, Amarata-Yenagoa, Bayelsa State provides an artist-oriented and community-centered space not just for visitors, art collectors and art enthusiasts, but for artists to showcase their work, gain recognition, as well as have a creative and lively workspace to connect and meet.

The opening of its doors to the public in the coming weeks, no doubt will mark the
metamorphosing of art galleries in Bayelsa State as the hub comes with a difference amid commitment to put Niger Delta/Nigeria art in a global perspective where African art will be reflective of ideas from a renewed standpoint and enjoyed in varied forms.

Established by revered Professor of conflict and crisis management & international relations, Prof. Steve Azaiki (OON), renowned for his love of art, having earlier founded the state-of-the-art Azaiki Public Library, the art gallary stands beyond the normal art museum where it is all about hanging works on the walls for people to see or holding exhibitions, but will play a pivotal role in promoting and supporting the art world, especially in nurturing young artists and encouraging art appreciation of the remarkable talent we have in the Niger Delta and particularly in Bayelsa State.

A unique attribute of the Steve Azaiki art Gallery is the showcase of highly rare works, most of which are from Professor Azaiki’s over three decades of art collection from different countries around the world.
The new gallery is a must-visit for many reasons when it finally opens its doors to the public.
