Otuaro Commends President Tinubu for Supporting Peacebuilding Drive in Niger Delta

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for the PAP’s ongoing peacebuilding efforts in the Niger Delta.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the second batch of a specialized training programme on Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Media Engagement, Otuaro expressed his gratitude to the President, describing the backing as a clear demonstration of Tinubu’s commitment to lasting peace and progress in the region. The event, organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, took place in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by Otuaro’s Media Aide, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, the three-day capacity-building workshop targets PAP stakeholders and peace ambassadors. The first batch of the training had earlier been held from July 16 to July 18, 2025, at the same venue.

Dr. Otuaro noted that President Tinubu’s continued support reflects his deep concern for the socio-economic advancement and long-term development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large. He emphasized that peace must be deliberately built today to ensure a brighter and more secure tomorrow for the region.

“I am sincerely grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his overwhelming support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme and our grassroots peacebuilding initiatives across communities in the Niger Delta,” Otuaro stated.

“This remarkable support shows the President’s deep dedication to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. I urge all Niger Delta stakeholders and citizens to join me in appreciating Mr. President’s commitment to our shared future.”

Addressing the participants, Otuaro described them as crucial players in the peace and stability agenda, urging them to embrace their roles as ambassadors of peace. He encouraged full participation in the training sessions to acquire the knowledge and tools necessary to foster sustainable conflict resolution in their communities.

“As stakeholders of the PAP, you are vital to this peacebuilding process. Our collective efforts are key to ensuring long-term stability. By supporting the President’s vision, we are not only securing the Niger Delta but also contributing to national development,” he said.

Otuaro also expressed deep appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, led by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for its consistent support and strategic guidance in implementing PAP’s core objectives.

Reaffirming his inclusive leadership approach, the PAP boss revealed that plans were in motion to empower women across the region, noting that women had also suffered the consequences of past conflicts and deserved focused attention in the empowerment agenda.

He concluded by urging participants to remain focused, avoid distractions, and actively engage with the training content, which he described as critical for shaping them into effective peacebuilders and community leaders.
