Dr. Frank Odunukwe, President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Bayelsa State Chapter, has paid a visit to Miss Nancy Wilfred at the VIP section of the Government House Clinic, to personally condole with his subordinate who was assaulted a few days ago.
During the visit, Dr. Odunukwe strongly commended Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, wife of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, for her motherly care, empathy, and swift intervention in the matter. He noted that her humane disposition and passion, which transcend ethnic boundaries, have further endeared her to Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.
In particular, he expressed profound gratitude for Her Excellency’s kind gesture of awarding a university scholarship to Miss Nancy Wilfred, describing it as a life-changing opportunity for a young woman who has been striving against all odds. According to Dr. Odunukwe, this singular act goes beyond providing medical and security support, it represents genuine compassion and empowerment.
Dr. Odunukwe addressing newmen shortly after the visit, said he on behalf of the leadership and members of Ohaneze Ndigbo, both in Bayelsa State and across Nigeria, convey total appreciation to the Bayelsa First Lady and government, and assured of his continued support for the vision of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State.
He also extended his gratitude to the Bayelsa State Gender Response Initiative Team led by Barr. Diseiye Ogbise, as well as the State Police Command under the leadership of Commissioner Francis Idu, for their roles in ensuring justice and protection.
“The gesture of the First Lady Dr. Gloria Diri, is unprecedented and we are grateful. On behalf of the Igbo community in Bayelsa and across Nigeria, i convey our deepest appreciation and promise to support the vision of the Governor Diri-led Prosperity Administration.”
He concluded with a call for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the culprit(s) behind the assault, praying that justice is duly served.
