The President of the Egbema Brotherhood, Alaowei Promise Lawuru, has graciously accepted an invitation to serve as the Guest of Honour at the Ijaw Media Conference 2025.
The highly anticipated event, which marks its second edition this year, is organized by the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF). Themed “Safeguarding Niger Delta’s Natural Resources for Future Generations,” the conference aims to raise awareness on the pressing environmental challenges facing the region.
Lawuru’s appointment was formalized following a courtesy visit on Monday by a delegation from the Central Working Committee, led by Pastor Arex Akemotubo. During the visit, Akemotubo explained the significance of this year’s theme, emphasizing the increasing pressure on the region’s land and waterways, and the urgent need for sustainable resource management.
According to Akemotubo, the forum’s mission is to enhance public understanding, promote accurate and honest reporting, and galvanize leadership to protect the region’s natural heritage for the benefit of future generations. He highlighted Lawuru’s dedication to community service and his long-standing commitment to the Niger Delta as key reasons for his selection as Guest of Honour.
