● Receives Most Inspiring Pharmacist Award 2024

Dr. (Mrs.) Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, has been conferred with the “Most Inspiring Pharmacist of the Year” Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the pharmacy profession and her relevance in the political landscape of the state at the 2024 Pharmacy Week celebration and symposium held in Yenagoa on September 20, 2024.

As a Pharmacist and Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Faith highlighted the crucial role pharmacists play in the healthcare system. “Pharmacists are the unsung heroes of our healthcare system,” she stated, while highlighting their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to patient care.

The Pharmacy Week 2024 celebration had as its theme: “MEETING GLOBAL HEALTH NEEDS” and a sub-theme: “INNOVATION AND COLLABORATION: The Pathway to Sustainable Healthcare,” aimed to promote healthcare innovation and collaboration among stakeholders and to build unity among all medical practitioners in the state.

Dr. Faith in her remark, spotlighted the marine environment’s potential for pharmaceutical innovation, citing unique organisms that produce novel bioactive compounds. According to her these marine-derived substances have shown promise in developing groundbreaking treatments and drugs.

In her concluding remarks, the Hon. Commissioner thanked the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Bayelsa State Chapter, for this year’s theme and urged stakeholders to continue collaborating and innovating for a better and more stronger healthcare system in the state and nation at large.
