Chairman of the Delta State Inland and Waterways Security Committee, Chief Boro Opudu, is among the high-profile personalities expected at the Ijaw Media Conference 2025, scheduled to hold next year.
Opudu, who doubles as the Olotu of Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri Kingdom, will attend the second edition of the annual gathering as Guest of Honour, joining a lineup of distinguished speakers and stakeholders from across the Niger Delta.
Organised by the Ijaw Publishers Forum(IPF), this year’s conference is themed “Safeguarding Niger Delta’s Natural Resources for Future Generations,” and seeks to deepen dialogue around sustainable resource management and regional development.

Opudu confirmed his participation when the Central Working Committee of the Forum, led by Pastor Arex Akemotubo, paid him a courtesy visit in his Warri office. Speaking during the visit, Akemotubo said Opudu’s wealth of experience as a security expert and custodian of Ijaw cultural heritage made him a natural fit for the event.
The CWC Chairman further praised the security chief for his longstanding contributions to the protection of lives and property in the region, noting that his influence would add depth to the conference deliberations.
Responding, Chief Opudu lauded the Ijaw Publishers Forum for its commitment to promoting the true narrative of the Ijaw struggle and identity. He also reiterated his support for conversations aimed at preserving the Niger Delta’s natural resources, urging stakeholders across the region to rally behind the Forum’s progressive initiatives.
With preparations underway, the 2025 conference is expected to convene policymakers, traditional leaders, media professionals and advocacy groups to chart a sustainable path for the Niger Delta’s future.
