Otuaro to Chair 2026 Ijaw Media Conference … Igali, Eradiri Headline Key Presentations

Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has been announced as Chairman of the 2026 Ijaw Media Conference, according to a statement jointly signed by Chairman of the Planning Committee, Pastor Arex Akemotubo, and Secretary, Tare Magbei.

The organisers disclosed that this year’s theme, “Safeguarding Niger Delta’s Natural Resources for Future Generations,” underscores the rising call for responsible stewardship of the region’s land, water and ecosystem.

Now in its second edition, the conference is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the KFT Event Centre, Warri, and will commence at 10 a.m.

Renowned diplomat and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Scandinavian countries, Amb. Dr. Godknows Igali, is billed to deliver the keynote address, while former President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Engr. Udengs Eradiri, will present the lead paper. Both are expected to set the tone for robust engagements on long-term environmental protection in the Niger Delta.

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, will attend as Special Guest of Honour, alongside an array of high-profile Guests of Honour, including:

Mr. Lethemsay Braboke Ineibagha, MD/CEO, Vettel Mega Services Nigeria Ltd

Prof. Benjamin Okaba, President, Ijaw National Congress

Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, President, Ijaw Youth Council

Hon. Spencer Okpoye, DESOPADEC

Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Registrar, Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko

Chief Boro Opudu, Chairman, Delta Waterways and Land Security

Chief Promise Lawuru, President, Egbema Brotherhood

The Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom and First Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, will serve as Royal Father of the Day, while Chief Tunde Smooth, the Bolowei of the Niger Delta, will be Father of the Day.

The conference is expected to convene policymakers, community leaders, journalists and researchers to examine actionable strategies for promoting environmental responsibility across the Niger Delta.
